Current Vacancies

Ipswich City Council invites applications from enthusiastic and committed people for the 2010 Traineeship Program.  We offer traineeships in the areas of:

  • Business (Office Administration)
  • Arts Administration
  • Horticulture
  • Conservation
  • Local Government (Regulation)

These positions present an exciting opportunity for people with a keen interest in these areas who wish to gain both on the job experience and formal qualifications.

These traineeships are for a period of 12 months and upon the successful completion of the traineeship you will receive a Certificate II level of achievement in your desired field.  It is expected that the traineeships will commence in February/March 2010.

To be eligible for these traineeships you must belong to at least one or more of the following groups:

  • Youth aged between 15 and 24 years
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
  • People from a non-English speaking background
  • Long term unemployed people
  • Women re-entering the workforce
  • Mature age people
  • People with a disability
  • Australian South Sea Islanders

Applications should include:

  • Covering letter indicating your preferred traineeship and which group you belong to
  • Completed Eligibility Questionnaire (located at the Position Description link)
  • Resume

Applications should consist of:

  • a covering letter (quoting the reference number of the position above) of no more than 2 pages outlining the key reasons for your interest in the role, your contact address and telephone number; and
  • a copy of your resume, that includes details of education and qualifications and your employment history in chronological order starting with current position and the names and contact details of two referees.
