Ipswich City CouncilDivision 1 - Councillor David MorrisonCouncillor CommentsJune 2007Your Help NeededAll levels of government in Australia are elected by the people and should listen to the people. If you agree with the following two points then can I encourage you to fill in an appropriate form and write to the Hon. Paul Lucas Minister of Transport and Main Roads to express you views. 1. On Ramp The western on ramp (heading towards Ipswich) from Springfield Lakes to Centenary Motorway has the potential to be closed under the present design being done for the duplication of the Centenary Motorway. There is a design that can meet all the requirements of Main Roads and keep this on ramp open. I believe the ramp should be left open and if you agree please fill in a feedback form, which are available from my office or email info@horizon.incite.com.au or write to the Hon. Paul Lucas, Minister for Transport and Main Roads at GPO Box 2644, BRISBANE QLD 4001 or email the Minister on transport@ministerial.qld.gov.au. 2. Station at Springfield Lakes and Camira The State Government should be congratulated for their commitment to duplicate the Centenary Motorway and bring rail to Springfield by 2011. I believe there should be a station at Springfield Lakes and Camira during the first stage. These stations are not planned in the first stage, my fear is if they are not included now that we may never see them become a reality. If you agree fill in a feedback form, which are available at my office or email info@horizon.incite.com.au. Budget 07/08To run the City of Ipswich responsibly we must be careful with the planning of our city's budget. Over the last few months much planning has gone into the 07/08 Budget. You are welcome to attend the announcement of the Ipswich 07/08 Budget on the 27th June at 6pm in Council Chambers. It is encouraging for us as a Council when the State Government did a review on the financial position of all Councils in Queensland and revealed that Ipswich was in a strong financial position. Projects planned for Division One in the coming budget include:
The above projects alone total over $33 million dollars. WaterKeep praying for rain and keep using every drop of water with care. Unless we receive good rain over our catchment we will be in level 6 water restrictions by September. Tyco Water is a proud Ipswich industry that has a contract to manufacture pipes for the important water pipe networks being constructed. Due to the importance of having the pipe lines completed the EPA and Council have granted Tyco Water permission to operate 24 hours a day for the next two years if necessary. Special conditions have been placed in Tyco Water between the hours of 5pm and 7am to ensure the community are also protected from unnecessary noise. Yes We CareThank-you Brett Swann, Pastor of the Springfield Community Oasis who co-ordinated various churches in Springfield to be involved in "YES WE CARE" on the first Saturday in June. Over 700 needy people were helped in the Brisbane and Ipswich area on Saturday 2nd June by people in various churches who gave of their time and skills to help. Family Movie NightA family movie night will be held at Augustine Heights on Saturday 7th July 2007 in Catherine Morgan Park on Christopher Street, Augustine Heights. All are welcome to attend, please bring a rug and chair. Remember
