Councillor Paul Tully represents Division 2 of the City of Ipswich. Councillor Tully was first elected on 31 March 1979 as the youngest Alderman of the Ipswich City Council since ist proclamation 1860 and is currently the longest-serving Councillor in the city's history. The title of "Alderman" was replaced with "Councillor" under the Local Government Act 1993.
He was last re-elected on 15 March 2008 with 87% of the primary vote in Division 2 - the highest vote of any serving politician in all states and territories of Australia. In 2007, Councillor Tully eclipsed the record of his great uncle Alderman Alfred Tully Stephenson who had been Ipswich's previous longest-serving municipal representative over a 28-year period from 1910-1938.
Councillor Tully holds a Law degree from The University of Queensland. He is a registered Australian Migration Agent and is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified).
