Frequently Asked Questions

Dogs

Council requires all dogs over the age of three months to be registered. Dog registrations are levied each year and run from 1 July to 30 June. Discounts are available for a variety of pensions. A reduction in the levy is also available for desexed dogs but proof must be shown that the dog has been desexed. For all enquiries regarding dog registration please contact Council's Health and Environmental Protection Department, First Floor, 50 South Street, Ipswich or phone (07) 3810 6822.

Stray dogs collected within the city are taken to the Hooper Street Pound. A fee is charged for the release of these animals. All unclaimed dogs are destroyed after three days. Enquiries should be made to the Pound. Ph: (07) 3810 6814.
