Ipswich City CouncilConservationEnvironmental WeedsAn environmental weed can be defined as an exotic or even an Australian native plant species growing outside it's natural range or distribution. Environmental weeds have the ability to invade our bushland areas and potentially alter the structure of that community. Weeds in general are also defined simply as a plant growing in the wrong place at the wrong time. The existence of environmental weeds is one of the most important issues in the on-going protection and management of Ipswich City's natural resources. Environmental weeds can interfere with the conservation, management, use and enjoyment of our bushland areas. Ipswich City Council is committed to weed management and is actively involved in the control of environmental and declared weeds throughout the City. Ipswich City Council has an Environmental Weed Control Rebate (EWCR) to assist private land owners to control environmental weeds on their property. The rebate does not cover state declared class 1 or 2 weeds. Environmental Weed Control RebateWhat is the Environmental Weed Control Rebate (EWCR)?The EWCR provides a financial incentive to control environmental weeds on their property. The rebate is funded through the Ipswich Enviroplan.
