The existence of environmental weeds is one of the most important issues in the on-going protection and management of Ipswich City's natural resources. Environmental weeds interfere with the conservation, management, use and enjoyment of our bushland areas. For information on ICC's Environmental Weed Control Rebate Program see application below. Declared PlantsThe most common declared plants found within the City are African Boxthorn, Annual Ragweed, Bathurst Burr, Green Cestrum, Groundsel Bush, Noogoora Burr, Saffron Thistle, Star Burr and Thorn Apples. Environmental Weed Control RebateWhat is the Purpose of the Environmental Weed Control Rebate?The rebate's purpose is to assist landholders in the control of environmental weeds. The scheme is funded through the Ipswich Enviroplan which is an environmental initiative of the Ipswich City Council to ensure that residents continue to enjoy a quality lifestyle both now and in the future. What Assistance is Available?A 50% rebate for the cost to control environmental weeds on your own property, up to a maximum rebate of $400 per financial year (per property assessment). A 100% rebate on the cost of herbicide only to control environmental weeds on Council owned land, up to a maximum of $400 per financial year. All rebates must be approved by Council before work commences. Approved works on private land may consist of:

Ipswich City Council Applications including a contract labour portion should include at least two detailed written quotations. How is the Rebate Paid?Your application, complete with quotes, will be assessed, and you will be notified of the outcome of your application by mail. If approved, your letter of approval will specify the amount and type of herbicide approved for purchase. A rebate cheque will be posted to you on presentation of a detailed receipt for approved purchases.
