Ipswich City CouncilConservationLandholder IncentivesIpswich City Council has a selection of landholder incentives that aim to help private landowners with the ongoing protection and management of the city's natural environment. Ipswich contains one of the most diverse ranges of natural vegetation types in South-east Queensland, including rainforest, dry vine forest, soft wood forest, open forests, woodlands, mountain heathlands, wetlands, forest wallum and grasslands. These communities support an equally diverse range of wildlife. On average, about one third of the pre-European bushland remains in Ipswich, with the other two thirds cleared for farming, industry, and urban development. As a result, there are presently in excess of 250 endangered, vulnerable, rare, or regionally significant plant and animal species across Ipswich. Ipswich City Council recognises that around 85% of our City's unique natural assets are located on freehold land. The ongoing protection and management of these natural assets is of significant benefit to the broader community. Ipswich City Council has developed a range of partnership and support programs to assist landholders and community volunteers. The Ipswich Enviroplan Program, in partnership with the community, will ensure that Ipswich residents and visitors will continue to enjoy a greener quality lifestyle.
