Ipswich City Council

History

St Mary's Church HistoricIpswich is a City of compelling character, a character that, more than anything arises out of its rich and diverse heritage. Ipswich City Council recognises that the City's character, identity and image are crucially linked to its heritage.

The Ipswich City Council has recognised that the City's heritage is one of its greatest assets and accordingly, as part of the heritage program, has actively gone about promoting that heritage. In fact, the Council now promotes Ipswich - Heritage City as a key element of its corporate identity.
