The Office of Economic Development within the Economic & Community Development Department provides a wide range of support for people looking to:

  • Start a Business in Ipswich
  • Expand a Business in Ipswich
  • Relocate a Business to Ipswich

More specifically, Ipswich City Council's Office of Economic Development is supporting business development and job creation in the Ipswich region through the following activities:

  • Assisting existing local business operations and growth;
  • Identifying businesses outside the region with potential to expand or relocate to the region;
  • Co-ordinating regional government and community business services;
  • Working with local peak bodies and government agencies;
  • Researching business opportunities, investment, internet and e-commerce;
  • Researching opportunities within the regional tourism strategy; and
  • Broadening the range and scope of key educational and training institutions.

The Office of Economic Development is located on the Ground Floor of the Ipswich Global Information Centre (Library Building). Access to the Council carpark is via 45 Roderick Street, Ipswich.

Business Entry Point 

The Business Entry Point (BEP) initiative provides access to aggregated government information and resources from all levels of government throughout Australia. Its role is to provide Australian small businesses with online access to information and transactions that relate to government compliance and regulation issues. Primarily this is done through the BEP website at www.business.gov.au.

Business Entry Point provides small business with an online alternative to finding information and dealing with government agencies. Through extensive research, a number of specific topics that are particularly relevant to small businesses have been identified as ‘Themes' and these topics have been identified below:
