International Relations

Ipswich City Council is responsible for developing and maintaining international relations for the City of Ipswich.

This role includes responsibilities to:

  • Manage and develop Sister City relationship with Nerima, Japan;
  • Manage and develop region to region co-operation agreements to gain mutual economic, education and social benefits;
  • Coordinate, manage and market Ipswich's International Week to increase visitation and positively promote Council to the community; and
  • Facilitate Council's participation and membership in the World Technopolis Association.

The city has strong partnerships with its international links which extends to student exchanges and training of nurses in Aged Care. The Nerima Gardens are an example of a real outcome of these partnerships.
