What is a Regional Development Australia Committee?

Regional Development Australia is a partnership between Australian, State, and local governments to strengthen regional communities and to ensure their long-term sustainability. Regional Development Ipswich & West Moreton (RDA IWM) was established in late 2009 and is led by a committee of community leaders from across the region. The region covers 13,000 square km, taking in the Ipswich, Lockyer, Scenic rim and Somerset local government areas.

RDA IWM operates independently of government but works with elected representatives from federal, state and local governments and government agencies. It looks beyond local government boundaries to see the region in its entirety. By dealing at this level, RDA IWM is able to plan strategically and address issues within a regional context. It is particularly concerned with economic, social and environmental issues.
