Ipswich Genealogical Society Inc
The Ipswich Genealogical Society was Queensland's first genealogical society. It was formed in 1977 and became incorporated in 1985 and known as the Ipswich Genealogical Society Inc. With an average yearly membership approaching 200 the Society is managed and operated by a group of dedicated volunteers.
The Society enjoys a good working relationship with the Ipswich City Council and the Ipswich Historical Society.
The Society maintains links with other genealogical, family history and historical societies and has reciprocal rights with a number of other Societies to which Members may visit and carry out their research. Some restrictions may apply.
Members are encouraged to become actively involved in one or more of the many projects that the Society undertakes from time to time. These projects are for the purpose of creating resources for the Society by collating and compiling some of the vast amounts of local knowledge and history.
The Society publishes and distributes its own magazine Bremer Echoes, free of charge, three times per year to members and other Societies throughout Australia and the British Isles.
The rooms are open research three days a week.
