Battery World has the capacity, know how and industry links to act as a recycle point for all types of batteries. Batteries are an ever increasing environmental problem and as societies become more dependent on portable power, a long term plan is needed to limit the amount of battery waste entering landfill. It is estimated that 8,000 tonnes of batteries are going into landfill each year. Battery World stores want to be part of the solution and recycle for a better tomorrow. Battery World Ipswich has conveniently placed recycling bins located in store for recycling all of your used batteries. A specific programme, involving pick-up can also be tailored to meet your requirements. New Lesson Content for Preschool to Grade 2As part of the 'What a Waste!' education program, Ipswich City Council is now offering a new edition of the popular lesson, 'The Journey of Rubbish'. This new edition can be presented at childcare centres and to students in the early years of primary school. The lesson now has exciting new visual resources that are used to show what happens to rubbish after it is thrown away. Leichhardt Community Garden ProjectIn Leichhardt, community members are coming together to establish a community garden. With this exciting new community project, there is plenty to do and many ways people can get involved.
