Ipswich City Council stages bi-annual seniors' concerts to foster the unique sense of community that defines Ipswich for both residents and visitors. Senior residents of Ipswich are valued and active in informing and participating in local decision making processes that shape and improve the quality of life in Ipswich. These seniors concerts provide light hearted quality entertainment for seniors citizens of the community, and those with disabilities. The concerts are scripted, directed choreographed and performed by seniors who also design and create the sets and the costumes. The program content is varied with a balance of music, comedy and visual entertainment and interaction. Mayor Paul Pisasale and Councillors in partnership with the Ipswich Seniors' Concert Group, take pleasure in inviting you and/or your members to the 2012 Ipswich City Council Seniors' Concerts to be staged on Tuesday 24 April 2012 (Ipswich Festival Week) and Tuesday 21 August 2012 (National Seniors' Week) in the Ipswich Civic Centre. Both concerts run for approximately 70 minutes with no interval and have two sessions:
The concerts run for approximately seventy minutes with no interval. Pre-show entertainment will start at 9.30 am and 1.00 pm respectively. So come early and enjoy the entertainment. The production on 24 April 2012 titled ‘L' Amour de Paree' is written and directed by Kev Hallewell. When a conniving gangster and a corrupt Inspector of Police try to shut down a Parisian nite club, L'Amour de Paree, the owner, Emile, elicits the help of his bohemian friends to thwart their plans. Be a patron at the nite club and enjoy the Can Can, La Vie en Rose by Louiguy, Cabaret by John Kander&Fred Ebb, Chanson d'Amour by Nicola Martin, Memory by Andrew Lloyd Weber, I Love Paris by Cole Porter, Gigi by Lerner Loewe, Love Makes The World Go Round by Bob Merril and much more.
The production on 21 August 2012 titled Marsh Mellow Park is written and directed by Alan Suchting. An imaginary comic book story with bright, colourful characters singing popular songs, lovesick romance and light hearted comedy bringing fun and laughter for a hilarious time.
