The Steps to Success Program is a new program that aims to assist people who are long term unemployed, under employed, or feel they have trouble maintaining employment.
Steps to Success is a voluntary program that will service the Ipswich area. It is designed to assist people who are experiencing barriers that are preventing them from participating in training and employment opportunities.
Who do we work with?
We will work with people who are experiencing:
- Long term unemployment or under employment
- Alcohol, drug, financial, gambling and mental health issues
- Language and literacy difficulties
- Disability
- Isolation
- Other barriers that require extra support
How will we support them?
- The program will focus on a client's strengths
- Together with a case worker each client will be supported to identify his/her goals in a personal achievement plan
- We will help clients to develop strategies and pathways to assist them to reach their goals
- We will connect clients with other support services that can provide them with assistance to overcome their barriers
- Provide advice and support regarding training and employment opportunities in the community
- Help clients to obtain work clothes, training courses, transportation and other essential work items
Who is eligible?
Eligible applicants need to be aged between 17 and 64 years, long term, or under employed, and be willing to work towards training and employment outcomes.
Each client will be individually assessed with regard to their suitability for the program.
How can the program be accessed?
Eligible people wanting to be considered for the program can either self-refer, or be referred to the program by a community service provider/government agency.
To be considered for the program please complete the Steps to Success Referral Form (signed by the applicant) and either email to saddicott@ipswich.qld.gov.au or fax to (07) 3810 6741.
The coordinator of the program will contact applicants within two (2) working of receiving a referral to organise an appointment to discuss client needs and assess suitability for the program.
