Street Links is a welcoming day where guests can link in to services, access information and resources, enjoy a meal, some fellowship, and activities.

Date: Tuesday 05 June 2012
Times: Breakfast 8:30 am, Expo 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Lunch 12:00 pm
Venue: St Pauls Hall & d'Arcy Doyle Place, Ipswich

To make this event a valuable experience for our guests, you can help by:

  • Hosting an information stall to advertise your support service
  • Donating goods
  • Sponsoring the event

Objective:

The objective of Street links is to facilitate access to a range of services that ultimately will assist people who are homeless and/or disadvantaged to find new pathways and connections. The range of services planned to be available on the day will include: 

  • Accommodation assistance
  • Budget/financial counselling
  • Employment options
  • Employment/training services
  • Food & beverages
  • Free health check-ups (with GP's, podiatrists etc)
  • Identification
  • Legal advice
  • Personal assistance (hair cuts, and clothing etc)
  • Support and counselling
  • Youth support

If you have any ideas on services / professionals in these areas that would be useful to assist homeless people and people at risk please reply by email with details to: StepstoSuccess@ipswich.qld.gov.au

Volunteering/Stall Holders:

The opportunity for people to volunteer their time to assist in the planning for the event, as well as volunteering on the day or hosting an information stall exists. To find out more, or to register your interest in volunteering or hosting an information stall, please complete the Volunteer form and forward to the Community Development branch by fax 3810 6741 or email: StepstoSuccess@ipswich.qld.gov.au by Tuesday 22 May, 2012.

Donations/Support:

Donations and sponsorships are being sought to provide essential goods for guests. Special requirements include:

  1. New and used clothing and shoes (underwear and socks new only) for women, men, and children.
  2. Toiletry products (soap, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, towels).
  3. Sleeping gear including sleeping bags and blankets.
  4. Books and magazines
  5. Non perishable food items

Please bring all donations to the Community Development Branch, W.G. Hayden Humanities Centre, which is located on the corner of South and Nicholas Street Ipswich.
