Performing Arts Master ClassesSo you think you've got what it takes? 
The Ipswich City Council Master Classes in Dance, Drama, Instrument and Voice offer Ipswich performing arts students the opportunity for free tuition with nationally recognised tutors in each discipline.
2010 dates are Friday 20 & Saturday 21 August. Nominations will close end of April 2010.

About Master Classes
Ipswich City Council conducts free Master Classes in August each year to encourage and advance the development of excellence in young performing artists in a range of cultural disciplines including:
- Voice
- Drama
- Instrument
- Dance
Professional enhancement opportunities for a limited number of outstanding students is provided by appropriate Masters (qualified and recognised individuals within each discipline). The successful students are provided with a Cultural Bursary to enable them to attend the Master Classes for free. The selection of Bursary Winners and Masters is guided by the regional professionals within each discipline.
The first round of Master Classes was conducted in May 1995 and the program remains the only Master Classes initiative of its type conducted by local government in Australia.
Ipswich City Council Master Classes are conducted in various venues in and around the Ipswich Civic Hall. Viewing is free to the public.
Cultural Bursary nominations are by application and close in April each year for the following August program.

Claire Marshall Claire Marshall Info (PDF, 22 kb)
In May 2000, Claire's big break came when she choreographed the Savage
Garden Affirmation World Tour which showcased her choreography throughout
Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
Musical Instrument
David Coit David Coit Info (PDF, 12 kb)
He started piano at the age of four and trumpet at eight. He studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music majoring in jazz performance (trumpet) under John Hoffman. He has played with bands such as Oskar, Lush, Planet Funk, Hot Mambo, La Gran Salsa, Swing Force, Decahedron, James Morrison, Delta Goodrum, Venetta Fields and The Bass Note Big Band.
Voice
Shaun Brown Masterclass Shaun Brown Info (PDF, 38 kb)
2004 saw Shaun perform Morales in Carmen for Opera Queensland and Riff in West Side Story for the Brisbane Riverfestival. Since then he has continued his association with Opera Queensland in Sweeney Todd, Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro, Count Paris in Romeo et Juliette , Dr Falke in Die Fledermaus.
Drama
Andrew Cory Andrew Cory Info (PDF, 66 kb)
He is currently the Artistic Director of Backbone Youth Arts, and has been a movement and theatre tutor for Queensland University of Technology, NIDA Extension Program, Griffith University, Shafston University and the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA).
