Chairperson's Message

Cr Charlie Pisasale Summer may soon be over but things are just beginning to heat up at Ipswich Civic Hall with some fantastic events scheduled this month and next.

Upcoming March events in particular prove there's something for everyone. From opera and choral music to comedy and musical tribute shows, the Festival of Theatre program strives to offer a range of events to suit a variety of entertainment tastes.

The shows you will read about here are just the beginning of a jam-packed year of exciting events aimed at all ages, so keep checking the website for details of what's coming up each month.

Don't Miss Smokie

Time is running out to purchase tickets for iconic UK band Smokie's upcoming Ipswich concert.

With platinum records spanning four decades, Smokie's signature sound is a combination of hook-laden songs and distinctive soft-rock harmonies.

In fact, the Smokie sound is so distinctive that it has set the band apart from the rest, allowing them to remain at the top and continue making new music. It's original, it's timeless and it has made Smokie one of the worldwide best selling bands, with a career few could better.

Now it's Ipswich's turn to host this amazing, iconic band. Classic Opera With a Twist

Enjoy Mozart's music, glorious and sacred in a special way, offered in its original beauty by some of the brightest, strongest, sweetest voices in Australia today... but with a difference. Busting to Make You Laugh

The show that has the critics raving, women cheering on their feet, and men gasping with amazement, is coming to Ipswich for two shows only. Packed with song, dance, thigh-slapping characters and knock-out comedy, Busting Out! offers practical demonstrations for your 'drooping assets' that will have you both laughing and dancing in the aisles. The 2009 tour follows a sell-out season in Brisbane which entertained over 50,000 people.

Cat Stevens Story Unfolded

Tribute Show Offers Big O Experience

Described by radio personality John Laws as "unbelievable" and "fantastic", Gerard O'Donoghue will take you on an unforgettable musical tour through the Roy Orbison era. Supported by The Premiers, one of Australia's top bands, the show begins with a selection of classic tunes including You'll Never Walk Alone, Unforgettable and Unchained Melody. Chorale Presents Celebrity Concert

Offering an afternoon of choral music and band items, this special concert will feature the magnificent full chorus of the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale conducted by Major Neville Hammond (ret). Joining the choir will be the Young Orpheus Singers and special guests, the Australian Army Band Brisbane.
