Chairperson's Message
Right at the end of the month, don't miss the Parade of Champions, hosted by our own Miner Chords. This was a fabulous event last year and I encourage you to go along to this year's offering and see the wealth of singing talent on display. If you enjoy the unique sound of choral music and barbershop quartets, this is a concert not to be missed.

Comedy Festival Arrives Next Week!Only a few tickets remain for the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow which rolls into Ipswich next week.
Acclaimed Australian funny-woman Kitty Flanagan will headline the Ipswich leg of the Roadshow tour. Described as "effortlessly hilarious", Kitty has done stand-up and sketch comedy just about everywhere, from clubs across Australia, the UK and Europe to stints on popular TV shows like Full Frontal. Joining Kitty in Ipswich will be fellow comedians Russell Kane, Asher Treleaven and Celia Pacquola, held together by the seamless hilarity of MC Dave Callan.

Tickets Selling Fast for Troy Cassar-Daley
As a child of an Aboriginal mother and Maltese father, Troy's childhood is the stuff of legend - growing up in Grafton, running away to live with his father in Surry Hills, teaching himself to play guitar, his mother's work on the railways, his beloved grandmother ... all are factors in the rich tapestry of his life which heavily influences his songwriting. Cassar-Daley has grown from these humble beginnings to become one of Australia's most loved and recognizable performers - culminating in his recent star turns on "Standing On The Outside - The Songs Of Cold Chisel" performing Bow River, and the TV series "It Takes Two". He will perform in Ipswich as part of his 2009 "I Love This Place" Tour.

Singers Compete for Concert Place
Hosted by Ipswich's 'Miner Chords', over 20 barbershop quartets and eight choirs will compete during the day in front of interstate and international judges to win a place in the evening concert. The evening performance then presents the competition leaders in full flight. Featuring reigning champions The Blenders and The River City Clippers.

Wednesday 3 June - 7pm Noiseworks
Iconic Australian band Noiseworks will perform live in concert on Thursday 4 June. Noiseworks shot to mainstream fame in 1986 with their debut single No Lies, which instantly became an ARIA top 20 hit. Quickly following were chart anthems Take Me Back, Love Somebody, Welcome to the World and Burning Feeling. Since then, the band has extensively toured Australia and produced many more outstanding songs for its large following of fans across the country. Noiseworks' shows were always known to be some of the best that Australian live rock could nurture. Now it's your chance to see this iconic Aussie band live in concert.
Thursday 4 June - 8pm Spirit of the Eagle
Acclaimed performer Trevor Knight presents Spirit of the Eagle - The Words and Music of John Denver. The show includes all of John Denver's best-loved songs as well as Trevor's own award-winning compositions on the 6-string and 12-string acoustic guitars and the rousing bluegrass 5-string banjo. Also featured are some of the ever-popular comedic songs of the great English entertainer George Formby, played on one of George's own banjo-ukuleles, as well as some hilarious verses.
