Chairperson's Message
This is exactly what happened to Canadian bluesman Harry Manx. Dubbed the "essential link" between music from the east and west, Harry's music envelopes audiences in warm vocals, haunting songs and quirky covers of classic blues tracks. He's lived in Europe, Japan, India and Brazil, drawing on each country's music and culture to create songs that feature the lap-slide guitar, harmonica, cigar-box guitar, banjo, stomp box and 20-stringed Mohan Veena. Ipswich music enthusiasts will be lucky enough to see Harry perform in an intimate set in the Cunningham Room of the Ipswich Civic Centre. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Harry outside of a blues and roots festival. The Ipswich Civic Centre continues to attract big name performers with Australian rock icons Joe Camilleri, Grace Knight and Normie Rowe performing in early September, while screen legends Garry McDonald and Henry Szeps will tread the boards later in the month. Tickets to see music royalty David Campbell live in November went on sale this month. And Welsh superstar Aled Jones will stage his only Queensland show in Ipswich. There is truly something for everyone as part of the Festival of Theatre. Please peruse the shows on offer and pick your favourites. Don't forget to buy your tickets now to avoid disappointment. I look forward to seeing you at a show in the near future.

Presented by Empire Theatre, April's Fool is thought-provoking and an optimistic reflection on how we live our lives.
