Message from the Chairperson
I have my fingers crossed the judges of the 2010 Queensland Tourism Awards realise what we in Ipswich already know – our tourism operators are of a very high quality. It’s great to see Ipswich businesses promoting themselves and the region with the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre, Ipswich Events Corporation and Workshops Rail Museum all in with a chance to win the top honours. This is the first time Ipswich Events Corporation and Ipswich Visitors Information Centre are entrants in the awards while the Workshops Rail Museum is a veteran of the Queensland Tourism Awards. The museum won the heritage and culture category at the 2005, 2007 and 2008 state award ceremony and the 2008 national award. This proves what amazing facilities and operators we are blessed with in Ipswich. I encourage all residents and visitors to support all our tourism operators and help put Ipswich on the map Remember ... Tourism is everybody's business Cr David Pahlke |

Advocates learn more about tourist routeIpswich Advocate members have enjoyed a familiarisation tour along the newly revitalised Cobb & Co Tourist Drive, learning more about what is on offer within the region. Highlights along the drive included the Babies of Walloon Memorial and a visit to Rosewood to hear about the proposed development of the Rosewood Community Park which will be home to a Cobb & Co coach. The park is also one of the three Staging Posts. Another site visited was the Queensland Transport Museum, one of the many attractions at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre. Ipswich Advocates share their knowledge and passion for the city with others as part of the council-run program. [ Back to Top ] Future of tourism in good hands![]() Michael Tyler is working with council as part of UQ’s executive shadow program.
