Rates

Rate notices are issued quarterly and are due and payable on or before the discount expiry and due date which is clearly shown on the Rates notice. To obtain the discount, ratepayers should ensure that payment of the full nett amount shown on the Rate Notice is received at a Council Office or agency on or before the discount expiry date.

	Paying by Direct Debit This allows your account to be paid automatically from a nominated account. Please call the account enquiry number (07) 3810 6679 for more information.
	Paying by BPay Please call your participating financial institution to make a payment from your nominated account. Please quote biller code 1958 and your Council Customer Ref. No.
	Paying Online Pay rates online.
	Pay in Person at Newsagents Look for the red Bill EXPRESS® logo at newsagents to pay with cash, cheque, debit card, MasterCard, Bankcard or Visa. For locations call 1300 739 250 or visit http://www.billexpress.com.au/.
	Payment by EFTPOS EFTPOS Facilities are available at the Ipswich City Council Administration Building 45 Roderick Street, Ipswich Mon-Fri: 8am-4.30pm and until 8.00 pm on the last day of rates discount.
	Credit Card Payment by Phone Phone 1300 309 270 any time of day and follow the prompts. Please ensure you have your account, credit card and a pen ready to write your transaction (receipt) number that will be given at the end of the call. Retain this number for future reference. Payment can be made using MasterCard, Bankcard or Visa. Please quote your Ipswich City Council Customer Ref. No.
	Mailing Your Payment Please detach the payment slip from your notice and return it together with your cheque. Make cheques payable to Ipswich City Council. Payment should be mailed in sufficient time to allow applicable discounts.

Pay in advance or by instalments

Council offers several Easy Pay programs to help you pay your rates.

In advance

Ratepayers can pay rates in advance by small amounts at regular intervals prior to receiving the rate notice. Discount will still be allowed provided total payment is received by the discount expiry date. Ratepayers wishing to take advantage of this scheme should contact Council by telephoning (07) 3810 6679. A payment card encoded with your rate account details will be forwarded to ratepayers free of charge. Payments may be made to suit your budget with a minimum payment of $25.00. Payments in advance will be credited towards all levies raised including water consumption charges.

By instalments

Where payment by the discount date is not possible, you may make application to pay by instalments. Approved ratepayers will be issued with a personalised payment card encoded with your rate account details and payment instructions. Interest will be charged as determined by Council and in accordance with the Local Government Act. To discuss this matter further and apply for an application form please phone (07) 3810 6679.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my rates subject to GST?

No, rates and charges that appear on your rate notice are exempt from GST.

When is my rate notice due to be paid?

The rate notice amount is payable by the 'Due Date' shown on the front of the rate notice. Provided Council receives your payment on or before this date, discount will be allowed. If rates and other charges are not paid by the due date, the discount will be forfeited and the total rates will become overdue and subject to interest penalties.

What do I need to apply for pension concessions?

You will need to fill out an application form at Council's Administration Building located at 45 Roderick Street, Ipswich or the Customer Service Centre in Ipswich City Square. Please bring your Queensland Pensioner Concession Card or Gold Veterans' Affairs card and a recent letter from the Department issuing your pension. If you have recently moved, you will also need to re-apply.
