Anyone proposing to do building, or remodelling work, whether you are doing it yourself or employing the services of a licensed builder, should contact the Council's Building Team to ensure requirements, regulations, and fees are met. Plumbing work can only be undertaken by a licensed plumber/drainer. A deck, balcony and window safety guildeline has been developed by the State Government to help building owners, occupiers and managers carry out inspections on balustrades, decks and balconies in order to check their safety. It also contains useful information about safety issues associated with elevated floors and opening windows. Further information is available by visiting the State Government website. Plumbing
InspectionsInspections are available between the hours of 8.30 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. Monday to Friday and can be arranged by contacting the Officers at South Street, Ipswich. For Building Inspections contact (07) 3810 6120 and for Plumbing Inspections contact (07) 3810 6130. To assist in a prompt building inspection service by the Building Certifer, 24 hours notice is appreciated. The fee payable in respect of the erection of any new building, for any addition or alteration to any building or any plumbing works is detailed in Council's Register of Fees and Charges. The fee structure covers the examination and consideration of plans and specifications of the proposal, Examination and the inspection (as deemed necessary) of the work during progress.
