School Holidays
Ipswich City Council offers a range of free and low cost activities to keep kids healthy and entertained during school holidays, including the Fit & Fuelled KidsFit & Fuelled Kids is run by Ipswich City Council in primary schools to help children and parents lead healthy lifestyles. Program activities include actively commuting to school, eating a healthy breakfast, participating in fun physical activities, and 'healthy lifestyle' workshops. Applications for Fit and Fuelled Kids 2009 have now closed. For more information about the program contact Mitch on (07) 3810 6666 or email healthy4life@ipswich.qld.gov.au. Ipswich PCYCIpswich PCYC is a non-profit organisation which allows low affordable prices for activities which can otherwise be out of reach to parts of the community. All the coaches and staff are fully trained and accredited in their respected activity / sport. A yearly club membership is compulsory and is currently $16.50 (Under 18), $27.50 (18 yrs +), $55.00 (family of 2 adults + all children under 18) for 2009. All activities are conducted at the PCYC, Griffith Rd, Eastern Heights. Ipswich Community Youth ServiceIpswich Community Youth Service (ICYS) is a non-profit community organisation that operates an Out of School Hours Care activities program during school term for children aged 12-15 yrs old. Sessions run Monday through to Thursdays each school week and include a variety of sports and activities. There is generally no cost to take part, although there will be some costs for certain activities such as swimming. Available places are limited, so please book your place as soon as possible. ICYS also operate their regular school holiday program, aimed at children aged 11-16 yrs old. Activities include BBQ's, Bush Walks and daily trips to various locations and attractions. Due to the content of the holiday program, a fee will be required to participate. AFL Summer Skills and Fitness Training
AFL is a fast paced fun sport that everyone can enjoy. Come and learn how to play AFL in a safe and friendly environment. Open to all boys and girls turning 12, 13 and 14, and boys turning 15 and 16 in 2009.
Physical Culture
Physical Culture is a program designed for girls and ladies to build confidence, good posture, strength, balance, fitness and flexibility through exercise and dance but most of all, fun! Camira/Springfield Community CentreCheck out the range of activities available at the Camira/Springfield Community Centre. Come along to meet new people in the community and get fit and healthy for 2009. All activities are conducted at the Camira/Springfield Community Centre, 389 Old Logan Rd, Springfield. 360 Degree ProgramAn after-school program for grades 8-10 that provides young people the opportunity to explore their interests while having fun. Short courses are available on a variety of topics such as learn fitness training, screen printing and digital music.
