Healthy Lifestyle

Healthy & ActiveHealth Promotion is an important component in achieving improvement in community health. It is the application of best practice delivered through education, and the facilitation of change, which is designed to assist in the improvement of health and well being.

Health promotion programs aim to increase awareness of health and health related issues, and identify how aspects of lifestyle and choices can impact on health outcomes.

Council has an active health promotion team that aims to heighten community awareness of:

  • physical activity - "Heart Foundation's Walking Program",
  • healthy eating choices and safe food handling,
  • environmental protection - "Clean Site", litter awareness campaigns, "Cities for Climate Protection"
  • animal management - in association with the AVA PetPEP program, and
  • legislative requirements associated with public health, and environmental protection.
