The Big Ipswich Swap Party (Sat, 14 Nov 2009)

Do you need a new pair of shoes, a tennis racket, a new watch, a baby's high chair, some golf clubs, a hammer, a new coat or a handbag? Well, come along to Ipswich's Party of the Year and Swap 'til you Drop! 9.00am to 12 noon.

National Recycling Week is an annual, Australia-wide event and this year runs from Monday 9 November to Sunday 15 November. Hosted by Planet Ark over 14 years, National Recycling Week aims to encourage people to consider the impact of the disposal of their possessions and to reduce waste to landfill. It also aims to improve the positive environmental outcomes of recycling, including increased tonnage and reduced contamination.

To celebrate National Recycling Week 2009, Planet Ark is inviting every Council in Australia to participate in the Big Aussie Swap by hosting a public Swap Party. Swap Parties encourage people to reuse items, which in turn reduces the demand for new items. By swapping rather than buying a cotton dress, for example, a resident will save around 22,000 litres of water!
