A children's book featuring local landmarks, tourist attractions and community venues will be launched at Ipswich Nature Centre next week.
Written by Belinda Messer and Rosie Luik, ‘Ipswich let’s play!’ was developed as a personal keepsake and record of the owner’s school, best friend and favourite activities.
The 20-page book will be launched at the Queens Park centre on Wednesday, 16 December at 9am with storytelling, face painting, balloon animals and some special surprises.
Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said the book was an Ipswich City Council initiative to help promote activities for children and their family and friends.
“It’s a great little book all about the places we have right here on our doorstep – parks, libraries, swimming and aquatic centres, Ipswich Art Gallery and so much more,” he said.
“We’re encouraging children to explore Ipswich and experience everything their city has to offer from a young age.
“Getting out and about with family and friends – particularly at one of our 500 parks – helps children exercise and develop healthy habits that stay with them for life.”
Registration for the ‘Ipswich let’s play!’ book launch is essential and numbers are limited. To RSVP email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 3810 6671 by Friday, 11 December.
