Workshops to help preserve World War I memories

14 February 2017

Preserving the memories of World War I will be the focus of two Q ANZAC 100 workshops in Ipswich this month.

Ipswich Central Library will host First World War Treasures: a white gloves experience and Caring for your First World War collections in conjunction with the Queensland Government and the State Library of Queensland.

Ipswich Libraries spokesman Councillor David Pahlke said the free workshops would offer an informative and interactive look at World War I material like letters, diaries and photos.

A white gloves experience will bring items from the State Library’s World War I collection to Ipswich, giving people a hands-on look at these curated treasures,” he said.

Caring for your First World War collections will show people how to care for and preserve World War Iitems for future generations.”

Q ANZAC 100 is a four-year program that commemorates Queensland’s contribution to World War I.

For workshop bookings or more information go here or phone 3810 6815.

Lunch will be provided for people attending both sessions.
