In partnership with the Ipswich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community Council developed and formally adopted the 2015-2018 Ipswich City Council Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Accord (the Accord) on 28 July 2015.
Council would like to thank members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander working group for their hard work and commitment to develop the Accord which provides a platform for community engagement and improved services for the City's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
The themes developed in the Accord document outline a range of projects and processes for Council to progress during 2015-2018.
As identified throughout the Accord Council aims to work with all relevant government and non-profit organisations to improve opportunities that align to the aspirations and empowerment of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
The Accord outlines a range of projects and processes for Council to progress between 2015 and 2018 under the following six theme areas:
Cultural recognition, respect and community engagement
Employment, education and skills development
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Peoples business development
Health and well-being
