Squaring the Wheel
Commuters make the most
of new Springfield stations
3
Commuting for Springfield residents to
Brisbane and vice versa is now made
easier with the completion of the new
Springfield passenger rail line in the
city’s booming eastern suburbs.
The $475 million Richlands to
Springfield transport corridor includes
two new stations at Springfield and
Springfield Central, as well as a dual
carriageway upgrade of the Centenary
Highway to Springfield Parkway.
The project’s completion marked a
significant milestone for the Springfield
region, with Springfield Land
Corporation also recently celebrating
30 years in Ipswich.
In that time, the Springfield,
Brookwater and Augustine Heights
regions have experienced extraordinary
population growth, which is only set
to continue as Ipswich’s population
climbs from 180,000 to an estimated
462,000 in the next 18 years.
This new rail line and upgraded
transport corridor has the full support
of all three levels of government and
will play a significant role in managing
the region’s population growth.
