Steps to healthy water play

Swimming and water play is fun and a great way to stay healthy and active, however sometimes germs can contaminate the water and make people sick. It’s important to remember that you share the pool or splash park water with everyone. We all have germs on our bodies which can wash off and contaminate the water. There are important steps everyone can take to make sure germs that make others sick aren’t spread.

  • Be water play safe - some germs are resistant to the chemicals used in pools and at water parks.
  • Don't get in if you have been sick with diarrhoea in the last two weeks.
  • Shower and wash with soap beforehand to wash away the germs.
  • Reports and incidents to help stop the spread.
  • Don't swallow the water to help avoid the germs.
