Wildlife

There is a diverse range of wildlife within Ipswich City owing to the wide range of habitats available.

More than 1250 native plant species and about 700 animal species have been identified in the region, including mammals (74), reptiles (93), birds (340), fish (42), amphibians (34) and insects (109).

Consider getting up close and personal with some of Ipswich's wildlife at the Ipswich Nature Centre. You can also see our animals in their natural home when visiting our conservation estates. Be sure to keep their home safe for them while you are there.
