Venue and Facility Resources
Ipswich City Council is proud to support a vibrant and active community by delivering high-quality Sport and Recreation facilities that meet the needs of our growing region and encourage participation for all.
As demand for local sporting venues continues to increase, Council has introduced clear and consistent guidelines to support fair access, maximise the use of facilities, and strengthen collaboration with user groups across the city. These guidelines came into effect from 1 November 2026, helping to ensure a sustainable and equitable approach to the use of our sporting infrastructure. Applications for seasonal use of sports venues can be submitted via the following link:

A full copy of the guidelines can be found here(PDF, 1MB).

Sports Field Closures
We keep our sport and recreational facilities open as much as possible. But sometimes we need to close sports fields because of wet weather or for maintenance. These decisions are made to protect player safety, prevent long-term damage to fields and ensure facilities remain available for the whole community.
Clubs will be notified of field closures through Council’s official communication channels. We encourage all users to check field status updates before training or games, particularly during wet weather periods.
Closure Notice: Council Managed Sports Fields
Effective: 2:00pm, Friday 12 June 2026
Due to recent rainfall, Council-managed sports fields are currently saturated.
To ensure player safety and prevent damage to playing surfaces, all Council-managed sports fields are closed until 6:00am Saturday 13 June 2026.
Weekend Use:
For any play or training from this time, it is the responsibility of individual permitted users to assess field conditions and determine whether activities can safely proceed onsite.
Please continue to check field status updates, particularly during ongoing wet weather, by contacting your club directly.
