Venue and Facility Resources

Ipswich City Council provides a range of resources, guidelines and information to support sporting clubs, schools and community organisations to effectively access, use and manage Council-owned sport and recreation facilities. The resources below provide guidance on venue use, field allocations, sponsorship signage, school hire arrangements and other activities conducted at Council venues.

Sport Venue and Facility Sponsorship Signage Resources

Access guidelines, tools and practical resources to help your club attract sponsors, build valuable partnerships and manage sponsorship signage at Council-owned sport venues.

Sponsorship can play an important role in strengthening the financial sustainability of sporting clubs and enhancing the experience of members, participants and visitors. Effective sponsorship arrangements create mutual value by connecting local businesses with engaged community and sporting audiences.

To support clubs in pursuing sponsorship opportunities, Ipswich City Council has made available a range of resources to assist with sponsorship planning, proposal development and compliance with Council signage requirements.

Important Information
Before installing any sponsorship signage at a Council-owned sport venue, clubs must obtain written approval from Council to ensure all signage complies with the Sport Venue Signage Guidelines.

Sport Field Allocation

With increasing demand for local sporting spaces, Council has introduced clear and consistent guidelines to support fair access, make the most of available facilities, and work in partnership with clubs and user groups across the city.

These guidelines will take effect from 1 November 2026 and are designed to support a sustainable and equitable approach to the use of Council’s sporting facilities.  Applications for seasonal use of sports venues can be submitted via the following link: 26/27 Seasonal Sporting Permit Application.

Sporting Venue Hire for Schools

Ipswich City Council may allocate sporting fields to schools outside of club and association seasonal allocation periods. Schools wishing to hire Council sporting venues are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) during the relevant application period outlined below.

EOIs will be assessed in accordance with the allocation criteria outlined in the Sport Field Allocation Guidelines(PDF, 1MB).

Council may allocate sporting fields to schools outside the times allocated to clubs/associations seasonal allocated times.  Expressions of interest (EOI) will be invited for the hire of sporting venues for schools twice a year as outlined below:

Before submitting an EOI, applicants are encouraged to review the Applicable Fees & Charges.  as well as the Standard Conditions for their preferred venue, which can be accessed via the Park Search Page.

Venue Hire Conditions

All schools and user groups accessing Council sporting venues must comply with the conditions of hire, including:

  • Ensuring facilities are left clean and tidy after each use.
  • Providing all toilet consumables required during the hire period.
  • Arranging for the removal of all waste generated during use, either through a contractor or by removing it from the venue.
  • Using water-based paint only for field line marking.
  • Not driving vehicles within park areas unless prior approval has been granted by Council or access is required for emergency vehicles.

Additional venue-specific conditions may apply and will be detailed on the issued permit.

Seasonal Use of Sporting Venues

Council allocates sporting venues on a seasonal basis.  Expressions of interest (EOI) will be invited for the hire of sporting venues twice a year in line with the winter and summer season.

Please also note the below as well as the listed conditions on your Seasonal Sporting Permit when you receive it.

  • A user group will not be issued a seasonal sporting permit if outstanding fees are owing.
  • All user groups utilising an Ipswich City Council Venue must ensure it is cleaned and maintained after every use.
  • All user groups must ensure they undertake test and tag on their electrical items in accordance with Electrical Standards 2013.
  • The use of a deep fryer is not permitted without approval from Ipswich City Council.
  • All user groups are required to engage a relevant contractor to remove their own waste or remove it themselves.
  • All fields are to be line marked in water-based paint only.
  • Vehicle access is not permitted in parks unless prior approval has been received or for an emergency vehicle.

If you are holding a larger event/competition attracting high crowd numbers and bumping in extra equipment such as food vans or amusement rides, you may require a TEEL (Temporary Entertainment Event License). More information can be found on the Temporary Entertainment and Events Page
