Destination Management Plan
Ipswich City Council is committed to developing and growing the local tourism sector by establishing the City of Ipswich as an accessible daytrip and short break destination within South-East Queensland.
The previous City of Ipswich Destination Management Plan aligned with the complementary development of attractions and activities as described in the Brisbane Visitor Economy Strategy 2014-2020, with the aim of doubling the value of tourism by 2020. The plan is a critical part of the overarching City of Ipswich Economic and Workforce Development Plan which prescribed the path to delivery of quality corporate services, measuring development of key industries and profiles the growth of the City of Ipswich.
Council is currently finalising the new Destination Development Plan for 2025 - 2028, a key period as our region prepares to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032.
This plan will outline key actions to increase visitor demand, visitation, and expenditure in the city via infrastructure investment and attraction, destination marketing, visitor servicing, events, industry capability and capacity development initiatives. The results from the survey will complement the contributions provided by local tourism businesses and will form a vital part of the identification of priority actions for tourism over the next 4-year period.
