Two of Australia’s best at putting the pedal to the metal are set to rev up Ipswich’s Planes, Trains and Autos festival.
Supercars stars Brodie Kostecki and Rylan Gray will bring one of their competition Shell V-Power Mustangs to display at the festival’s main event, Fully Charged, at Queensland Museum Rail Workshops in North Ipswich on Saturday, 2 May.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the Shell V-Power Racing Team’s appearance at Fully Charged was one of many Planes, Trains and Autos festival highlights over the long weekend of 2-4 May.
“Every year, Planes, Trains and Autos gives fans of mechanical power unforgettable experiences,” Mayor Harding said.
“As a motorsport loving city, many of us have watched the iconic red, yellow and white Shell V-Power Mustangs tearing up the Supercars tracks from afar.
“Now it’s our chance to get up close to a real competition race car – and meet the Shell V-Power Racing Team drivers Brodie, the 2023 Supercars champion, and Rylan, one of the best young drivers on the circuit.”
Mayor Harding said Fully Charged will also feature displays including emergency services vehicles, Ipswich Waste Services trucks and a Bell 206 JetRanger helicopter, as well as spectacular aerobatics by Freedom Formation and Matt Hall Racing pilot Kris Sieczkowski.
“I know people are also very excited about new events on the Planes, Trains and Autos program this year, including the Monster Machine Day at Stockland Providence in South Ripley on Sunday, 3 May,” Mayor Harding said.
“This will be an epic exhibition of SEE Civil’s most hardworking machines, and a chance to meet the crew who bring them to life.”
“Willowbank will be the place to be for all those who love the sights and sounds of engines roaring.
“The 2 Days of Thunder race event will see high-octane racing over nine categories at Queensland Raceway, while a stone’s throw away at Willowbank Raceway will be the Diesel Assault drag racing meet.”
