number of jumps and a series ofweave
poles.
Drover’sDog Park is extremelypopular
with local residents and thenew
equipmentwas installed toenhance
the facilities for local dog lovers.
Off leashdogparks arenot only a spot
for dogowners toenjoy some special
timewith their animals, but it provides
a safeplace for dogs to stretch their
legs and socialisewithother dogs.
Spending time at dogparks have
beenproven todeliver both social
andwellbeingbenefits for bothdogs
and their owners, withpeople striking
friendshipswithother likeminded
people.
Rosewood’s off leashdogparkwas
namedDrover’sDog Park inhonour of
Australianpolitical identityBill Hayden.
MrHayden, a former politician and
GovernorGeneral, used thequickquip
that adrover’s dog couldwin thenext
electionwhenhe steppeddown from
the leadershipof theAustralian Labor
Party in 1983.
InAugust 2013MrHayden andhis
wifeDallasHayden officiallyopened
theDrover’sDog Park, alongwith a
series of interpretative signs featuring
informationon theDogon the
Tuckerbox, RedDog, CattleDogs and
theAustralianKelpie. The signs also
containdetails aboutMrHayden and
his political life.
Aswell asDrover’sDog Park,
Tom LenihanPark also features a
playground, seating, picnic shelter and
skatepark.
Plans are also inplace to install
additional landscaping in thepark in
the comingmonths.
Dogs visiting theparkmust beon
a leashuntil they are inside the
boundaryof the leash-free area.When
in the leash-free area, thedogmust
still beunder verbal control of the
owner.
