Parents encouraged to
practice safeparkingaround
schools
Childrenare important andnow school
isback it is time to remember our
parking responsibilities.
Therewas a lotof illegal parkingaround
some schoolsduring2014 that caused
someangstbetweenparents, schools
andcouncil. School principals have
had tocall council topatrol aroundall
schools inDivision9during thepast
year tomake sure students arrivingand
leaving school did so safely.
Followingdiscussionsbetween
school principals andcouncil’s traffic
management team, therehavebeen
anumber of changes toparking
regulationsduring the school holidays in
anattempt tomake it easier for parents
duringdropoffandpickup times.
All parents areencouraged tomake
noteof thechanges thatmayhave
occurredaroundyour school andobey
the rules socouncil does not have to
issue infringement notices.While it
isdifficult toprovidemoreparkingat
schools, theprocessof pickupanddrop
off ismademuch simpler if all drivers
follow the rules.
Donotpark inBusZones, donotpark
on road reserves, donotpark for any
lengthof time indropoff zones, do
notparkon footpaths, ifweall abide
by these rules 2015will beagreat year.
Pleasebecourteous toall other parents
as youareall there for the same reason
tocollect your children safely.
Parents areencouraged to follownewparking regulations around schools.
