IntelligentCommunities for 2015by the
IntelligentCommunity Forum (ICF) in
NewYork.
Describing theTop 7 communities as
‘revolutionary’ in their ownway, the ICF
says each cityhadplanned its future
in away thatwas consistentwith its
cultural identity, whileusinguniversally
availabledigital tools andbroadband
technology.
Ipswichhadbeen recognisedpreviously
by ICF as a global leader, first in 2011
when the citywas named in the top 21
intelligent communities.
ICF judges said Ipswichwas chosen
owing to theDigital Hubproject and
Digital Enterpriseprogramwhich teach
residents andbusinesses digital skills,
while at the same time Ipswichhad
startedmajor redevelopment of the
city centre.
IpswichMayor Paul Pisasale credited
the city’s forward thinking in themid
1990swith the creationof thefirst
local government owned Internet
ServiceProvider inGlobal Info Links
that paved theway for the citybeing
at the cutting edgeof technology
today.
Another exampleof forward thinking
was thePolarisDataCentre, born
out of the visionof the Ipswich
