Council is committed toensuring
our open spacenetworkmeets the
community’s needs now and into the
future. Todo this, council is developing
a StrategicMasterplan to assess open
space and streetscapes to create a
planwhichwill help futureplanning,
development andmanagement of
Ipswich’s open space.
Council will be seeking feedback from
residents as part of thedevelopment
of the StrategicMasterplan.
Areas being looked at in this Strategic
Masterplan includeNorth Ipswich,
Brassall, Tivoli, Karrabin, Blacksoil,
Wulkuraka and Leichhardt.
The StrategicMasterplanwill aim
to address how the community
uses open space, howparks and
streetscapes encouragemorepeople
towalk toparks, schools, shops or
other community facilities andhow
our public streets andparks canbe
improved.
Focus areaswill include:
Communityopen spaceneeds –
Fromparks and reserves toutility
land andbikeways, it’s important
tounderstandhow the community
currentlyuses andwould like touse
open space in the future.
IronpotCreek corridor –Planning is
necessary to improve andprotect
thiswaterway. IronpotCreekwill be
looked at closely tounderstandhow
this corridor canbe rehabilitated
andwherepublicopen space canbe
developed.
Streetscapes –An important part
of the city’s open spacenetwork,
streetscapes provide a corridor for
transport, active transport (walking,
cycling) aswell as amenities for
communities.
Schools andother facilities –
Schools and community facilities
are important places that people
regularly commute to and this
project aims to increase active
transport toour schools andother
facilities.
