Anew gardenof reflection tohighlight
drowning awareness andprevention
has beenofficiallyopened atHenry
LawsonBicentennial Park inWalloon.
Thenew addition complements the
nearbyBabies ofWalloon sculpture,
inspiredby theHenry Lawsonpoem
which tells the storyof two young girls
whodrowned at a nearbybillabong.
Families alreadyuse the area as aplace
for grieving and reflectionby child
drowningprevention charityHannah’s
Foundation.

closely involved in thedesignof the
Gardenof Reflection, which is aplace
of peace and tranquillity thatwelcomes
every familywhohas lost a child.
Parents and familymembers can visit
theGardenof Reflection together to
help support one another and keep the
memories of a lost child alive in their
hearts.
Theofficial opening and special balloon
release coincidedwith theNational
Drowning PreventionAwareness and
Memorial Day.
Queensland’s onlyofficial Lovers Lane
locatedon theBrisbaneValleyHighway
at Ironbark is a symbolic stoppingpoint
for young lovers and coupleswith a
penchant for romance.
Anew signhighlighting thehistory
behind the specialmonument to love
was recently installedby IpswichCity
Council.
The site is believed tobe theonly
official Lovers Lane inQueensland
and regularly attracts the attentionof
peoplepassingby andonValentine’s
Day attracts lovers of all ages to the
spot tooften renew their vows.
Anecdotal evidenceexists that record
the roadbeingnamed Lovers Lane
since the 1960swhen the rural roadwas
underMoreton ShireCouncil.
IpswichCityCouncil has installed a
special bus shelter, gardenbed and
symbolicheart tomark the romantic
spot. A Lovers Lane street signhas
alsobeen installed. It has been stolen
on several occasions so a new signhas
beenwelded inplace.
Residents canpurchase a Lovers Lane
street sign from council as a special
