Kids Water Safety and Learn to Swim Program

Ipswich City Council’s Kids Water Safety and Learn to Swim Program offers children aged 6 months to 5 years free water safety and swimming lessons.

This program has been designed for children to help them build water confidence and encourage them to be more comfortable in the water, learning lifesaving skills while having fun.

The next planned Kids Water Safety and Learn to Swim Program will be in 2026. Be the first to hear when bookings open by joining our mailing list.

This program is a one-off introductory program primarily for Ipswich residents. Priority is given to children who have not yet participated in this program. If your child has already participated in a Kids Water Safety and Learn to Swim Program at any time in the past, if there are no available session times suitable for your child or if you reside outside of the Ipswich local government area, you are welcome to join the program waitlist here and we will contact you if a space becomes available.

“The coordinator (Tracey) was wonderful to communicate with, explaining everything well. The swimming instructors were fabulous and taught age appropriate lessons.” Rachel”

“Teaching my child to confidently reach for the ledge after jumping into the water. The instructor was very supportive. This could have been scary for her and I but we were shown how to do it and my child didn't react negatively.” Melanie

“The teacher was fantastic. She really engaged with me as a parent, but also with my son and she adjusted her lesson to where the children were at on the day. It was wonderful.” Eleanor
