Stop Fence Jumping (Pipes)

Project Overview

Pipe cover

Humans, it’s up to you. Keep your dog in the yard.

Roaming dogs may be stolen, injured or killed, and can be a nuisance to the community.

This do-it-yourself fencing option is a practical, cost effective solution for your dog.

Before you start any work that involves a dividing fence, please know your rights and obligations, including obtaining neighbour consent. If any work increases the height of a fence, building, amenity and aesthetics approval may be required. A property in a Character Area Zone may have additional requirements. Step by Step

Step 1:

Pipe Step1

Attach the brackets to fence

  • Place one bracket at end of fence panel, towards the top of the fence and attach with screws.
  • Using the spinning pipe to measure the distance for the second bracket, place the second bracket on the fence, allowing approximately 150mm - 200mm extra for the pipe to be able to spin freely.
  • Attach the second bracket to the fence.

Step 2:

Pipe Step2

Make spinning pipe solution

  • Thread 32mm rigid conduit into PVC length.
  • Thread tie wire through 32mm rigid conduit length (tie wire runs in middle of both pipes).

Step 3:

Pipe Step3a

Attach tie wire to brackets

  • Attach one end of threaded tie wire to a bracket, securing by tying or wrapping around bracket.
  • Pulling wire taut in the pipes, attach to bracket at other end of fence panel, ensuring it holds pipes taut. Pipe Step3b
