Council backs Ipswich Show for another three years

Ipswich City Council will continue to support the Ipswich Show, endorsing a three-year sponsorship partnership worth $90,000.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said council is proud to support events bringing economic, social and cultural benefits to the city.
“The Ipswich Show is among the many annual events boosting our tourism and hospitality industries and ensuring our city remains vibrant and cohesive,” Mayor Harding said.
“For 152 years, the Ipswich Show has been an integral part of our city’s identity as a celebration of its pastoral and agricultural foundations, providing fantastic entertainment to 30,000 attendees every year.
“Council will continue to support Ipswich Show Society to put on this major event for our city, endorsing a three-year partnership to provide sponsorship of $30,000 for each of the 2026, 2027 and 2028 editions.”
Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said the Ipswich Show provides significant benefits for the community.
“With the Ipswich Show Public Holiday proposed for Friday, 15 May next year, this will be an exciting time for our city with the event injecting almost $890,000 into the local economy annually,” Cr Augustine said.
“It’s not just our tourism and hospitality sector benefitting every year, with many local businesses procured to provide their services supporting the operation of the three-day event.”
Division 3 Councillor Andrew Antoniolli said the Show is part of Ipswich history.
“The Ipswich Show allows residents to celebrate Australian agriculture and horticulture, also giving insight into the endeavour and grit of our forebears who helped build this city through these industries, “Cr Antoniolli said.
Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said the Ipswich Show provides entertainment for all generations.
“Whether it’s market stalls, animal attractions, stock handling demonstrations and much more, there’s fun and education for everyone who comes to the Ipswich Show every year,” Cr Doyle said.
