Council's Systematic Inspection Program runs from 3 December 2016 to 30 May 2017 and aims to identify unregistered dogs and update the animal register to aid delivery of animal management services. more
Ipswich City Council's Systematic Inspection Program is conducted in accordance with Section 114 of the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 and runs from 3 December 2016 to 30 May 2017.
During this period, authorised officers will visit homes across all Council divisions between 8.00 am and 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday, to carry out dog registration inspections.
All authorised officers are required to carry an identification card which will be produced to residents during the program.
The objective of the program is to identify unregistered dogs and update Council’s animal register to assist with the delivery of targeted animal management services.
The program also supports compliance with Council’s local laws and the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, which requires that all dogs over the age of three months be registered within the local government area in which they are kept.
To encourage the community to register their dogs, Council has introduced a temporary amnesty for owners of unregistered dogs. If a person has failed to previously register their dog with Council, there will be no additional costs or penalties above the applicable registration fee, provided the dog is registered with Council before 3 December 2016.
