New Business Breakfast unlocks opportunity for Ipswich
Published on 12 February 2026
New business owners have been welcomed into the community with advice and support at an Ipswich City Council-hosted breakfast on Tuesday.
Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said the breakfast served to connect new businesses with available support, like-minded people and organisations to enable business growth in Ipswich.
“Getting started in business can be challenging, so council is assisting small businesses to access government, business and industry programs and resources, and helping them build relationships with other business owners and services within Ipswich,” Cr Augustine said.
“Over 97 per cent of registered Ipswich businesses are small businesses – which translates to over 12,700 individual small businesses – and that’s not even counting the many more who are just starting out and not yet registered for GST, operating a hobby or a side hustle.
“Council is proud to continue our efforts to support our small businesses under the Economic Development Strategy 2023-2027 and our commitment as a Small Business Friendly Council.
“Ipswich is a $15 billion economy – and it is powered by small businesses as they create jobs, products and services that keep us moving forward.
“Therefore, it is vital that these businesses not only survive, but thrive in our economy, and the New Business Breakfast is only one way council is making sure our small businesses, and in turn our whole economy, is supported.
“Council also provides concierge support, regular engagement and information to local businesses, as well as deliver programs that help businesses start, scale and succeed.
“Council is keen to continue this momentum, and I encourage all businesses in Ipswich to stay in touch with us by signing up to the monthly Business Ipswich newsletter, so they can keep up to date with events, education, news and information.”
