Adopt a Park Program

Emily-and-treeThe Adopt a Park program is an initiative of the Ipswich City Council to increase community spirit and ownership of our parks.  With a growing estate of well over 500 hectares of parks and reserves to manage, community involvement is becoming increasingly important. Partners in this program work together to keep our parks clean, green and attractive for the benefit of everyone in our community. The Adopt a Park program is a great way to get outdoors, meet like-minded people and work together to make our parks and reserves even better.

We are looking for motivated people to become Adopt a Park Team Leaders and organise events in their local area. This is a great opportunity to start up a new community group and really make a difference to our parks and reserves.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead

Ipswich City Council supports Adopt a Park events by providing suitable sites, native plants, mulch, tools, technical expertise and help with planning.

If you are interested in starting up a community group and adopting a park, please phone Ipswich City Council on 1300 IPSWICH or (07) 3810 6666.
