Ipswich Pteropus Conservation Park - Woodend Nature Centre

Description

Commonly known as Woodend Nature Centre, this conservation areas is on the banks of the Bremer River.

The property was purchased and is managed through Enviroplan primarily as a conservation area for flying foxes. Once numbering an estimated 500,000 animals, today a much smaller flying fox colony roosts along a gully as part of the reserve. A large platform allows excellent viewing of the colony, especially fly-out from late afternoon to dusk in the roosting season.
