Community Flood Awareness Guides
Ipswich sits on the floodplains of the Brisbane and Bremer rivers. Flooding is a reality. When it happens communities must be prepared.
Ipswich City Council, with thanks to the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements funded by the Australian and Queensland governments has develop Community Flood Awareness Guides for seven locations that have been identified as being high priority, based on flood risk and community and social factors.
Each guide draws from local knowledge gained through extensive community enagement, making it community-based in its approach; for locals by locals. Historical flood data assisted with tailoring location-specific flooding information to local needs, providing practical steps to help you protect what matters most.
These guides are designed for anyone who lives or has a connection to these communities and has been prepared to assist you to identify potential flood risks as well as provide information to help you prepare for, respond to and recover from future floods.
When each of us takes responsibility and actions to prepare, the whole community can respond more effectively and recover from floods faster.
