New online portal makes it easier to understand development in Ipswich

Ipswich residents will have easier access to information about significant development applications and planning matters thanks to a new dedicated online Development in Ipswich portal on council’s Shape Your Ipswich website.
The portal brings together information about current development applications with a high level of community interest, the development assessment process, planning resources and connections to Development.i and the Ipswich City Plan 2025 in a single, accessible location.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the new portal would help residents better understand how development happens across the city while strengthening community awareness and participation.
“As one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions, it’s important our community has easy access to information about the developments shaping Ipswich’s future,” Mayor Harding said.
“The Development in Ipswich portal on the Shape Your Ipswich website provides a central place where residents can stay informed about development proposals of high interest, understand the planning process and find out how they can have their say on applications that may affect their neighbourhood.
“We know planning and development can sometimes be complex. This new platform makes information easier to find and understand, helping residents engage with confidence and participate meaningfully in the development process.
“The community has told us they want greater visibility of development applications of high interest across Ipswich, and this portal delivers exactly that.”
The Development in Ipswich portal provides access to Development.i, which contains current and past development application information and property details for the Ipswich local government area.
The portal also provides a connection into the Ipswich City Plan 2025 to complete access to planning and development information.
It features information about significant development applications currently being assessed, planning resources and step-by-step information about the development application process under Queensland’s Planning Act 2016.
Mayor Harding said the portal was another step in council’s commitment to being one of the most open and transparent councils in the nation.
“This portal helps residents access the information they need, when they need it, and supports informed conversations about the future of our city,” Mayor Harding said.
“We can also evolve this content in response to community feedback, and also to address emerging planning and development issues in the community.”

- Citiswich Stage 7, Riverview
- Multiple Residential Units, Hughes Street, North Ipswich
