Youth Sustainability Summit

The annual Youth Sustainability Summit is held for students in the Ipswich area and focuses on sustainability starting at home and at school. Featuring special guests such as celebrity landscape artist and environmentalist Costa Georgiadis and hands-on workshops, students are empowered to understand, discuss and develop sustainability projects, innovations or ideas identified as important in their community. Students will walk away from the summit feeling empowered to make a difference and return to their homes and schools with solid sustainable ideas for the future.

The 2019 Youth Sustainability Summit will be held for Year 4 and 5 primary school students on Wednesday, 21 August at the Ipswich Civic Centre. Invitations have been sent to primary schools and registrations have now closed.

Afternoon Review
Students have the opportunity to discuss what they have heard throughout the summit and design their own sustainable projects for school or home.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.  Students and teachers/support staff will need to bring drinking water for the day and there are taps at Civic Centre to refill bottles.  This will help us reduce the waste created from the event to link with the theme of "zero waste".

Secondary school students will receive an invitation to attend the EnviroForum on Thursday 22 August 2019 and contribute their thoughts and ideas on how animals and us can live as neighbours and protect habitat for all.

Through this education, awareness and community involvement, the summit supports goals within the Ipswich City Council Sustainability Strategy.
